Hot air ballooning in the Spa region
Important: The take-off site is chosen by the pilot based on the wind direction on the day of your flight, in the region you have selected!
This applies to late afternoon and early morning flights to avoid flying over the High Fens, which are extremely difficult to access for balloon retrieval, and to avoid interfering with air traffic in the Bierset airport area, over which we are prohibited from flying. Other launch sites may be chosen on the day itself, depending on weather conditions and site availability. Flights in the Spa region are generally scheduled for late Thursday and Friday afternoons, and early Saturday mornings, to take advantage of the best light for your souvenir photos.
Depending on the wind forecast, we may also select other sites in the region within a 30 km radius to offer you the most beautiful aerial experience possible.
The Spa-Pepinster-Andoumont region is particularly beautiful to fly over, offering the chance to discover its exceptional flora and fauna.
It's not uncommon to spot does, and even wild boar or red deer, from the hot air balloon basket. This encounter with nature from the basket of a hot air balloon is especially enjoyable early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION: Return transportation to the launch site is not provided by the montgolfiere.be team, so you need to arrange your own return. Your friends, family, etc., can follow our 4x4 vehicle, which is in contact with the balloon, and can pick you up at the landing site, which is not the same as the launch site. The distance covered by parachuting is approximately 15 km; the landing location is not known in advance.
