The take-off site in the Terres-de-Meuse region is determined by the pilot on the same day, depending on the wind direction. This helps avoid the airspace of the nearby Bierset Airport.

A Rich and Captivating History

Built during the Middle Ages in the heart of the Condroz region, the château still preserves its keep and several original architectural elements. Although it was destroyed in the mid-17th century, it was completely rebuilt in a classical style, becoming an elegant pleasure residence surrounded by French-style gardens.

The Château de Modave was home to prestigious owners, including the Count of Marchin, who contributed to its current appearance, as well as Maximilian-Henri of Bavaria, Prince-Bishop of Liège, and other noble families such as Montmorency, Lamarche, and Braconier. Since 1941, the château has belonged to Vivaqua.

Redesigned in the 19th century, the French-style park and gardens of the château are listed as exceptional heritage sites in the Parks & Gardens of Wallonia. They are freely accessible during the château’s opening hours, and rose flowerbeds beautifully enhance this green setting.
