Is it cold during a hot air balloon flight?
Contrary to what you might think, it's not as cold up in the air as you'd expect!
No need to bundle up in your winter coat for harsh conditions; the heater will keep you warm!
You won't feel cold at all since you're moving with the wind.
The heater will keep you warm, and it's incredibly effective, which is why we recommend wearing a cap or hat, especially if you're tall. A good pair of ankle boots, a stylish cap (it looks better in photos ;-)) to protect you from the burner's heat, a pair of gardening gloves, and comfortable clothing will do the trick.
The balloons move with the wind, and there's no need to worry about feeling cold below 700 meters altitude. We generally fly at 450 m or less.
Reminder:
At low altitudes, atmospheric pressure drops by 1 hPa for every 8 meters of altitude gained, and temperature drops by approximately 1°C for every 150 m of altitude gained (ISA value: a loss of 6.5°C per 1000 m, or 1°C per 154 m or 505 feet).
